St. Francis and Pope Francis

When Jorge Bergoglio was announced as the new Pope and that his papal name would be Francis, I felt sure it was because he was a Jesuit and it was after St. Francis Xavier SJ. Yet when we found out his model was St. Francis of Assisi, I was delighted!  Pope Francis has drawn on the spirit and life of the poor man from Assisi in so many ways.

This retreat will provide examples of ways to meditate on these two amazing leaders in our faith—in service to those on the margins, in their joy of living, in their outreach beyond the Catholic Church, and in their simple ways of living.  Be prepared to be enriched by both!
