Much has happened within our Province since that time!\u00a0 Holy Cross Retreat Center responded to this initiative by forming the Laudato Si\u2019 Committee, and ecumenical group that promotes environmental stewardship and sustainability into our everyday lives in southern New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Holy Cross Retreat Center, along with the Province, through the Franciscan Earth Care Initiative, has committed to the following activities and more:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Solar installations at HCRC.<\/li>\n<li>Building renovations using recycled and sustainable materials and resources.<\/li>\n<li>Educating retreatants and members of our local community about caring for the environment and appreciating the beauty of our desert climate and natural mountain range.<\/li>\n<li>Providing educational programs and speakers incorporating nature and spirituality to bring greater awareness of the importance of respecting and protecting the environment.<\/li>\n<li>Ways in which the friars and the community can work together to protect the earth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_medium\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"xdj266r x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs x126k92a\">\n<h2 dir=\"auto\">Season of Creation | September 1 \u2013 October 4<\/h2>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><em><strong>\u201cIt is not yet too late\u201d \u2014 Pope Leo XIV<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Season of Creation invites us to slow down, listen, and remember the gift we have been given in our common home.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">For Franciscans, caring for creation is deeply connected to the spirit of St. Francis, who saw creation as brother and sister.
