Laudato Si\u2019 Committee: Working Together to Protect the Earth<\/strong><\/p>\n

In November 2018, the Conventual Franciscan Friars of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation launched the Franciscan Earth Care Initiative, celebrating the Franciscan tradition of honoring nature, the environment, and our planet. Much has happened within our Province since that time!\u00a0 Holy Cross Retreat Center responded to this initiative by forming the Laudato Si\u2019 Committee, and ecumenical group that promotes environmental stewardship and sustainability into our everyday lives in southern New Mexico.<\/p>\n

Holy Cross Retreat Center, along with the Province, through the Franciscan Earth Care Initiative, has committed to the following activities and more:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Solar installations at HCRC.<\/li>\n
  • Building renovations using recycled and sustainable materials and resources.<\/li>\n
  • Educating retreatants and members of our local community about caring for the environment and appreciating the beauty of our desert climate and natural mountain range.<\/li>\n
  • Providing educational programs and speakers incorporating nature and spirituality to bring greater awareness of the importance of respecting and protecting the environment.<\/li>\n
  • Ways in which the friars and the community can work together to protect the earth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Un comit\u00e9 ecum\u00e9nico se re\u00fane peri\u00f3dicamente durante el a\u00f1o para promover la acci\u00f3n y la concienciaci\u00f3n dentro de una variedad de iglesias y de la ciudad.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

    El lunes 17 de octubre de 2022 se llev\u00f3 a cabo una proyecci\u00f3n p\u00fablica de la pel\u00edcula \u201cLa Carta, un mensaje para nuestra Tierra\u201d con el Papa Francisco en el Centro de Retiros de la Santa Cruz. La pel\u00edcula de una hora y media es una promoci\u00f3n adicional de la enc\u00edclica \u201cLaudato \u00a1S\u00ed!\u201d nos llama a cuidar de toda la creaci\u00f3n, humana y de la naturaleza. Es una c\u00e1lida historia de c\u00f3mo el Papa invita a personas de todo el mundo a reunirse en Roma, pero es un mensaje serio. Despu\u00e9s hablamos de lo que nos da esperanza.
