Fr. Tom grew up on a farm in Southern Indiana, the second of ten children. He attended the seminary, professed solemn vows as a Conventual Franciscan in 1978, and was ordained in 1979. He worked as an associate in parishes for six years, then was appointed pastor of St. Anthony Church in Lorain, Ohio from 1985 till 1991. At that time he became the guardian of Mt. St. Francis Friary in southern Indiana, and treasurer of the Province. From 1997-2000 he led retreats in Prior Lake, Minnesota south of Minneapolis, (much different from New Mexico!). He studied Spanish in Costa Rica, then from 2000 till 2010, he was director of Hispanic Ministry for three counties near New Albany Indiana, and for a parish in Louisville, Kentucky. He arrived as the director for Holy Cross Retreat Center in August 2010. His hobbies include playing guitar, pottery, gardening, and camping.
